Copyright and intellectual property

How to report copyright concerns involving separ8, what we need to investigate, and how repeat infringement is handled.

Last updated

Our role

separ8 provides software that analyzes audio and produces separated stem outputs. We do not upload, sell, or license songs on behalf of users, and we do not claim ownership of your source audio or your outputs.

Users choose what to process. You are responsible for having the rights, licenses, and permissions needed for each upload, link, download, mix, share, or other use.

AI-generated outputs only

separ8 does not provide, sell, host for download, or distribute original studio multitracks, master recordings, or unmodified source files from uploads or third-party links.

Deliverables are automated, AI-estimated stem outputs and optional exports built from those stems (individual stem files, ZIP packages, or a client-rendered WAV mix). They are technical reconstructions, not the original recording, and may contain bleed, artifacts, or other errors.

separ8 does not endorse, encourage, or authorize copyright infringement. You must not use the service to process material you do not have rights to use.

What separ8 does not provide

Separation results are automated technical outputs derived from the source you supply. They are not a substitute for a license to the underlying composition, master recording, artwork, or other protected material.

Providing a link field or retrieval workflow does not mean separ8 authorizes you to copy audio from any third-party platform. You must comply with the terms and policies of every site or service you use as a source.

Copyright complaints

If you believe material on separ8 infringes your copyright, email separ8.app@gmail.com with the subject line "Copyright notice". We review good-faith reports and may remove or disable access to reported material, disable a shared mix URL, restrict an account, or take other appropriate action.

Incomplete notices may delay review. Include all of the following:

  • Your name and contact details (email and, if available, phone and mailing address).
  • Identification of the copyrighted work you believe was infringed, or a representative list if many works are involved.
  • Identification of the material you claim is infringing, with enough detail for us to locate it (for example a shared mix URL, account email, approximate processing date, or song title shown in the product).
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury where applicable, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
  • Your physical or electronic signature (typing your full legal name at the end of the email is sufficient).

Counter-notices

If you believe material was removed or disabled by mistake, email separ8.app@gmail.com with the subject line "Copyright counter-notice". Explain why you believe the material was lawful, identify the material, and include your contact details and signature. We may restore material when appropriate and permitted by law.

Repeat infringement

We may terminate or restrict accounts of users who repeatedly infringe copyrights or other intellectual property rights, or who repeatedly submit unlawful material after warnings or enforcement actions.

Other intellectual property

Reports involving trademarks, publicity rights, privacy, or other non-copyright claims may be sent to the same address with enough detail to identify the concern. We handle those reports in good faith but may request additional information.

For general terms governing use of the service, see our Terms of Use.
